A single crash may be incidental; the same app or driver failing repeatedly is a stronger lead.

For deeper live investigation, open Resource Monitor. Its Disk tab can show which process is reading or writing heavily, while its Network tab can reveal active connections and bandwidth use. This is more precise than Task Manager, but it is best used to observe behavior rather than to terminate unfamiliar processes.

Keep storage under control without aggressive cleaners

Low free space can affect updates, restore points, browser caches, and everyday performance. Windows provides safer cleanup options than broad “registry cleaning” or optimization programs. In Settings, go to System > Storage and review Storage Sense and Temporary files. The interface shows categories such as downloaded files, recycle bin content, delivery optimization files, and temporary data.

Before removal, read each category carefully. Downloads can contain installers, documents, and other files you intended to keep. Storage Sense can automate selected cleanup tasks, but it should be configured around your habits rather than enabled blindly.

Small utilities that improve daily work

A practical checklist before installing another utility

Third-party tools can be useful, but they should solve a clearly defined problem. Before downloading one, take a short, documented path through Windows’ own capabilities:

  1. Restart the PC if the issue is new and no critical work is open.
  2. Check Task Manager for sustained resource use or unwanted startup items.
  3. Review Reliability Monitor for recurring crashes and their timing.
